I have 2 SMD LED Strips of each 1400mA (12v), is it a problem to connect them direct to a 4000mA (12v) power supply?

No, there is no Problem. 4000mA ist the max. currant. So you can connect one or two of that stripes and switch between it. Its only not allowed to work with a 3rd stripe, witch means 4.200 mA.

No problem. It´s possible because the stripes only draw as much current as they need. You have 2 stripes each 1,4A. It means the supply must have at least 2,8A, better 3A.
So when use a 4A supply, 1A remains to connect some other devices.

...too slow :)
