UBatt = voltage of a battery/lightmachine/solar panel or else.
ULed = Led forward voltage.
ILed = Led current [in Ampere].


For Example:
12V - 3.4V
------------- =
0.07A

8.6V
-------- = 122.857
0.07A

A 122.857 ohm resistor is not available.

Next greater:
124 ohm [E96],
127 ohm [E48],
130 ohm [E24],
150 ohm [E12].

Note:
the max. voltage in a car you have, when the motor is on and the lightmachine is running. This engine produced around 14.4V.
When the motor is off, the max. voltage is the battery with max. 13.6V (fully loaded).
